How many of us wake up with pain? Whether it is back pain, a headache or internal pain, most American adults are currently experiencing some level of pain. Still, that’s not what’s most shocking. What’s most shocking is that, of the many people experiencing daily pain, most are taking prescription drugs to manage it; while others are simply ignoring it. What many individuals don’t realize is that they can live a pain-free life without the use of prescription medications. All it takes is some natural health care, (including changes in one’s diet) which will help your body recover and get back to optimal health.
As unfortunate as it is, most health providers and organizations that are trying to help people alleviate pain, are doing so by prescribing drugs or over-the-counter medications that are simply masking the pain. This can lead to several problems, such as broken bones, torn muscles and even greater pain. The result of chronic pain can often lead to immobility and other chronic diseases.
In an analysis from data gathered in the 2012 National Health Interview Survey, it was found that:

  • 25.3 million adults had pain every day for the preceding 3 months
  • Nearly 40 million adults experience severe levels of pain
  • An estimated 23.4 million experience a lot of pain
  • Adults in the two most severe groups, were likely to have the worst health

If you’re like me, pain is sometimes unavoidable. I love to participate in physically-straining activities and really put my body through the ringer, so I know that I’m one of the 40 million adults who have experienced pain. However, I never succumb to prescription drugs or over-the-counter pain medications. I alleviate the pain naturally. It often takes longer time, but the pain will go away and you won’t have to suffer any side effects. Some healthy, natural ways recommended to help alleviate pain (most of which I’ve used) are: Acupuncture, electrical stimulation devices, herbal remedies, massage therapy, chiropractic care, mobilizing and stretching, ice and heat treatments and physical therapy.
Aside from following a healthy recovery plan, I make sure to cut out all sugar from my diet; the root of inflammation and pain. Follow a healthy diet low in processed foods and corn and vegetable oils which are also very pro-inflammatory. Participate in low-impact physical activities daily that help you stay mobile. Remember, take care of your body, it’s the only one you’ve got!
