Roger J. Stone was born in 1952 in Connecticut, to a Catholic blue collar family of Italian and Hungarian heritage. His father owned a well drilling company.
Mr. Stone has had a career as a political consultant for over forty-five years. Most notably he began his career as an aide to President Richard Milhouse Nixon. Stone also worked in the unsuccessful campaign for President of Barry Goldwater, a former Senator from the State of Arizona. In 1979-1980, he was the coordinator for Ronald Reagan’s Presidential campaign in the Northeastern part of the United States.
Mr. Stone, along with his colleagues Charlie Black and Paul Manafort began a political consulting firm in 1984, doing not only domestic political work but at one time worked for the Philippine’s dictator Ferdinand Marcos and for Mr. Mobutu, a dictator of the Congo Republic in Africa. His colleague, as mentioned above, Paul Manafort was the head campaign manager for Donald J. Trump’s Presidential campaign for several months.
Roger J. Stone has been a longtime friend and one of the earliest political managers of our new President. Though Roger Stone has been a long time supporter of Donald J. Trump, he is not always enamored of some of the forty-fifth President’s dealings overseas during his short time in office. Case in point, when President Trump was invited to receive Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian award, CNN.com reported that he appeared to be bowing to the Saudi potentate. Roger Stone, when he heard about this said he felt he could puke; it was so distasteful to him. Roger Stone later stated that it appeared to be a subservient gesture. Really, it might not have been anything more than that the Potentate of the Saudi kingdom needed a stool to stand on to place the award around our President’s neck. Donald J. Trump measures about six feet two inches in height.
However, as political writers often do, they tend to stretch out the most minor details, wringing out the most detail they possibly can. The CNN.com staff writer Gregory Krieg commented whereas Jared Kushner, the President’s son in law, was blamed for the incident. Mr. Krieg referred to these two men (Kushner and Stone) in the following way: Kushner is the young buttoned down and stiff lipped operator in Trump’s inner orbit; Stone is the bullish and flamboyant right wing gadfly, never more than a phone call away from President Trump.
Roger J. Stone is a prolific political researcher and writer, has to date written five very intriguing books. The titles of his bestsellers are: The Man who killed Kennedy, the case against LBJ, Jeb! and the Bush Crime Family, The Clinton’s War on Women, Nixon’s Secrets, The Benghazi Report and lastly, The Making of the President 2016.
